Q1: do the original seat clamps from a SPORT 11 fit flat against the curved hull?
BACKSTORY
I am re-installing the original “seat clamps” on my SPORT 11. I have not modified the hull but am noticing that the straight seat clamps do not sit flat against the curved hull. I don't have a good picture from when i uninstalled but am wondering if this is right. In the middle of the seat clamps the hull is about 1-inch away.

I think you are asking about the wooden boards with notched areas that hold down the thwart seats. If so, they originally would have fit flush with the lip molded into the hull liner onto which the ends of the thwart seat boards are resting.
Originally those boards just held down the thwart seats, but in some later iterations they acted as risers to raise the height of the thwart seats, and I believe in that application the seat board were slightly longer and were fastened to them.
When they were not "risers" the seats with probably not fastened in place with screws, but just retained under the boards.
Perhaps the boards you have took on some warp when off the boat.
If my guess is wrong, please post a picture of the boards and where they fit in a curved portion of the hull.

You are talking about the correct piece, not only does it hold the seats in place, it is also where the engine controls mount. Anyway, [the wood piece] is about 3/4-inch thick and very straight and solid wood. I am very sure they were never curved, just too stiff, although that seems like it would have been a good idea. When I look at some of the companies that offer replacement pieces, they are also straight. I could put some shims in between the hull and the wood piece, but i am trying to figure out how it was originally attached. Thanks for the input.

Maybe the hull warped.
