Inspecting a 1987 Boston Whaler Outrage 20 for purchase

Hi Everyone.
I'm fairly new to boating, but have been reading a lot about boats. I came a across a 1987 Boston Whaler Outrage 20. I'm exited to potentially own a Boston Whaler. I've been reading about this boat and it seems a bad fuel tank is the most likely expensive concern I might be buying with this boat.
Any advice on what to look for when inspecting this boat? Is there a way to test the fuel to detect problems with the fuel tank without remove the central console and deck?
I've started a conversion with the seller, but haven't got much further than that. I plan to use the boat for near shore fishing off the Oregon coast on relatively calm days.
Thanks for any advice in advance.
Corey
