Where can one buy the black "tape" that covers the dashboard of a 1990 Boston Whaler Outrage? Thanks

Grainger may have something similar. When faced with replacing the similar vinyl stick-on material on a previous boat I found the material available to me at that time made replacement uneconomical due to having to buy so much more than needed for my project. I ended up carefully masking the area, removed all gauges, etc. and sprayed the area with a can of flat black pressurized paint. I used three coats over several hours. I believe the paint looked better than new vinyl and it lasted for many years.

Some portions of the helm on classic Boston Whaler boats was often covered with a black faux-leather vinyl sheet material. This material has been called a number of names, including

--Mat-Tack, and

--Mat-Tac, but

I believe those names are corruptions of the name of the manufacturer of the material, MACtac. See

MACtac makes all kinds of material, and somewhere on their website must be that back faux-leather grain vinyl material used on Boston Whaler boats.

Another material that might be suitable appears to be a 3M product called

3m MATTE Black M12 Scotchprint Car Wrap Vinyl Film 1080 Series.

In the case of a c.1990 OUTRAGE console, I don't think that MACtac was used, based on some remarks from Jeff, as the design of the console was different than seen on the earlier models. I don't know exactly what material was used, but I suspect that Boston Whaler could give you some advice about it. Try calling customer service and inquiring about it.
