1994 GLS 13: Source for Replacement Vinyl Insert for Rub Rail

Postby jwoodpdx » Mon Dec 09, 2024 2:31 pm

Q1: what is a source for a replacement for the vinyl insert in the rub rail of a 1994 GLS 13?

ASIDE:

I am new to the forum.

I recently bought a 1994 GLS 13 hull. This boat was stolen, stripped, and then recovered by its owner. The rub rail was removed. The owner was so heartbroken they sold the hull to me for a song. I want to buy just the [vinyl] insert and put it back in place, and avoid having to buy the backing [probably means the rub rail molded track].

I and my 14-year-old child will be making seats. We will use the boat as tiller-steered boat for fishing this winter. In the summer of 2025 we hope to motor the Columbia [River] for five days from Portland, Oregon to Astoria, Oregon.

The rub rail rubber was removed. I plan to buy the rubber [vinyl insert] and [install it into the existing molded track].

If your 1994 GLS 13 uses the classic molded rub rail track with a vinyl insert, please see a remarkably similar post made just a day or two ago on the same topic:

Thanks Jim.

I thought someone could point me in the right direction.

Based on that reading I think I need the insert F878.

They had a nice picture of dimensions so when I get home I'll measure.

With any luck this could only be $50 yipee!
