Location for New Interior for SPORT 17

Postby KevinArthur » Thu Mar 13, 2025 7:05 am

Q1: other than the wood locating diagram (which I already have), where can I find more formation as to where I ought to mount the new wooden interior components for my SPORT 17 boat?

[I do] not [need information] specific to anchor points [as] I have the diagram of the internal wood in the deck, gunwaless, sides, etc.

Also, I will be mounting Yamaha F70 engine that weighs 253-lbs and an on-deck fuel tank of 10 to 12-gallon capacity.

I would be guided by the proportions of the layout seen in the other, smaller, "SPORT" models, such as the SPORT 15.

Here are some images previously uploaded that show the general layout of the SPORT 15 and the position of the interior relative to other elements in the hull and cockpit:

The SPORT 17 is a relatively rare model, so I don't know if you will be able to find many photographs of the original configuration.

The helm console and helm seat are mounted slightly aft of the amidship point of the hull.

You could also look at the very popular MONTAUK 17 to see where the helm seats are mounted as a possible guide for where to located the side console and plank seat on your hull.
