Predict Fuel Economy for 2006 OUTRAGE 240

Postby Downtheline » Thu Feb 19, 2026 11:54 am

Q1: what should be the fuel economy of a 2006 240 OUTRAGE with twin 2021 SUZUKI DF200a engines?

My observations:

4000-RPM produces 2.0-MPG at boat speed of 22-MPH.
5000-RPM produces 1.5 to 1.7-MPG at 35-MPH.

Typically with a moderate V-hull design, 22-MPH boat speed is much too slow for optimum fuel economy.

Needing 5,000-RPM with twin 200-HP engines to get to 35-MPH boat speed on a 24-footer seems unusual.

My 24-foot moderate V-hull design with a single 225-HP engine will reach 35-MPH at 4,700-RPM and deliver 2.5 to 2.6-MPG.
