Isle Royale, Lake Superior 2025 Trip

We took our Boston Whaler REVENGE 25 to Isle Royale in the summer of 2025. We made the crossing from the upper peninsula. Prior to the trip I read jimh's write ups (see below) about his trips to Isle Royale. Reading jimh's trip reports helped with our plans and what to expect. I plan to go back. This was our first time with the boat on Lake Superior.

In July 2025 we departed from Eagle Harbor, Michigan and made the crossing to Isle Royale, which took about to two hours. Fog was encountered during part of the way. I used RADAR for added safety. The seas going over were nice. We also had flat seas on the return trip. The boat ran great, and we had no engine problems

The trip included angling while at Isle Royale.

One day I checked out a light house.

A big fish-fry was put on by the Isle Royale boating association. We happened to be on the island when the association was having their fishing tournament and get together, so the campsites were limited. We took a tent but never broke it out as we stayed at two different campsite cabins.

On this trip we were on the northern end of the island.

The boys and wife had fun. We caught some fish, put some miles on the Boston Whaler, and got to explore the area in our own boat, which made it all the more fun. My boys still wanted to take the big ferry across from Houghton since it was a bigger boat.

Looking forward to planning more trips with the family. I am also considering departing from the north shore of Minnesota on a future trip. If we head to the east side of Isle Royale I will depart from Eagle Harbor again.

Both trips required serious preparation, particularly for food and cooking plans, as once on the island there are only two places where you can get a meal off the boat and one store where you can buy freeze-dried meals :
