1992 Offshore 27: Give Opinion On Performance Data

Postby tunafish11 » Tue Sep 23, 2025 1:30 pm

My 1992 Offshore 27 has twin 2015 Honda BF225 engines with run time just under 900-hours. I have owned this boat for three years, and I love it. I have upgraded miscellaneous things.

At [what is later clarified to be some less-than-full-throttle setting called "cruise"] the engines can accelerate to 4,000-RPM and produce a boat speed of close to 26-nautical-miles-per-hour (or 30-MPH), with a fuel economy of 1.3 to 1.4-MPG

[Moderator's note: data is unclear if we have switched to statute miles per gallon or are referencing NMPG (nautical miles per gallon)--PLEASE CLARIFY DISTANCE units for fuel economy].

Q1: what is your opinion of the performance data given above?

Q2: is a 1992 OFFSHORE 27 boat worth going all-in [that is, re-powering with different engines that will cost] serious money.

At full throttle [the HONDA BF225 engines] can [accelerate to] 5800 [RPM].
