BACKGROUND
This 1971 OUTRAGE 21 Ribside had port and starboard fuel tanks when I bought it from a fellow in Mississippi. That owner bought the boat as part of a package deal from a guy in Louisiana who acquired it from his dad in the northeast, where the boat was used for many years by a yacht club to set racing marks. There is some scoring in the paint where (I assume) marks were routinely deployed and retrieved.
I've added fishing rod holders. Someone added oak slats to the bow to make a casting platform.
I believe the hull was originally Desert Tan gel coat, but that was covered over with white paint that is coming off in chips and small sheets when I use an electric power washer.
Jeff Rohlfing advised, "Wash what you have with Mark Kate On/Off and leave it as is with the original gelcoat and patina", and so I have done that.
The transom brass drains were replaced with new brass drains'
There is a new fuel filter.
The fiberglass at the bow eye fitting was damaged, but I had it professionally repaired--but not painted.
There are new LED navigation lamps.
I have seen 53-MPH boat speed at full-throttle.
The Alabama boat registration expires in June 2026
The dual-axle trailer bearings were repacked in 2024. The trailer tires show age. The trailer metal is 100-percent road-worthy. The trailer bunks are in good shape but need recovering.
