This is a question for the whaler historians -- I am hoping someone out there may know much of this info. With regard to the production of OUTRAGES, I have been told (by a gent I was talking to about an outrage he had for sale in the paper!) that the production of all outrages moved from the MA factory to the FL factory in spring of '87 (someone mentioned elsewhere on the board that it was '90, but this guy seemed to know what he was talking about.) Anyhow, he went on to say that the boats (outrages) built during '87, '88, and even early '89 had far more problems then normal. These problems include poor (for whaler) fit/finnish, blistering/delam of hulls, electrical problems, etc. He attributed this to the change in location, new workers, loss of skilled employees, etc. He said it was welll known that boats from this period are to be avoided. Can anyone confirm any of this? Does anyone have experiences with outrages of this vintage who can comment? It certainly makes sense to me, but what do others think/know about this situation? Thanks so much -- first time posting and must say that i love this site and am so glad that it continues to live...
