Beautiful day here in Seattle today so couldn't resist uncovering the Montauk and makinig a few modifications. With Merc power I have one of the worthless Quicksilver controls. The trim switch started hanging up last season so today I eliminated it and installed a momentary toggle on the dash. Am considering going to the old style Morse control.
Also moved my transducer, Had it installed to close to the prop.
Any day is a great day when you can go boating second best is working on it.

Know what you mean. Been doing a few things to my Dauntless 14. Getting ready for Cutthroat fishing on Sammamish. Getting the downriggers ready. Charging batteries. Polishing the SS rails. Installing horn. Re-reading the GPS/fish finder manuals. So much to do.

By the way, were you at the Redmond dealership last year?

Yes! I was the parts manager for both the Redmond & Lake Union store. I quit the end of April to go back on the road in marine wholesale sales. I feel like I have un-aged 10 years since then.

Boating--or even working on the boat-- is still 5-6 weeks in the future for those of us in Michigan.

Spent the whole day out on the "sha" today... with a tooth brush and rubbing compound that is. Besides a few spider cracks on the top, this baby's lookin brand new!
Tomorrow the teak will be delivered. It's a total re-do on all the wood.(I'll send pics as i go)
Days like this, you know it's gettin close!

Well, to celebrate "spring", I went out and bought a new Tempo tank(27gal) and a Garmin 48.
Both of these purchases resulted from advice garnered from the board. Thanks! Unfortunately, we are having an old fashioned winter here in Maine, and my guess is that we are 6-8 weeks away from launching, and a least a month away from uncovering, etc. It will be worth the wait!

The weather here is South Carolina is getting real nice, real quick!!

Unfortunately, the Montauk is in the yard shorn of all it's teak and instrumentation.
I'm refinishing the teak using Epifanes Wood Finish Gloss Varnish. Got tired of the oiling routine, so I'm going to try varnish.

Also adding a Teleflex hour meter, Humminbird depth sounder, new navigation light switch, and re-organizing the wiring under the console.

Of course, the new Mills canvas is sitting in the garage awaiting it's turn for installation.

Hope to have it all together in about two weeks. Can hardly wait to get on the water!

Joe
