I'll be on my way to N. Ft. Myers in a month or so with the Whaler in tow. Anyone know where I can launch (and leave the vehicle and trailer) around the mouth of Caloosahatchee or on Pine Island? Fees? I plan on trailering each day. Thanks. |

There is a nice ramp and plenty of parking (all free) on canal in beautiful down town St. James City on Pine Island... |

Arch- Heading towards Pine Island on Pine Island Rd. from N.Ft. Myers you can hang a left on Del Prado Blvd. and about four miles down there is a public ramp off to your left at four mile point on the Caloosahatchee. If you stay on Pine Island Rd. and head towards Pine Island there are two public ramps at Matlacha Pass, one near the mainland and one near Little Pine Island. If you go on over to Pine Island and then go South on 767 there is the spot Clark mentioned and another public ramp 3 or4 miles North Of St. James City near Masters Landing. And finally, my favorite is North on 767 to Pineland (not public, but cheap) which gives direct access to Cabbage Key, Cayo Costa and Boca Grande Pass where all those Tarpon jump into your boat. Keep us posted- John |

Arch, Re: Where to fish: I'd troll about a 1/8 mile offshore of Sanibel Island's Bowman Beach...bring a good pair of binnoculars along and keep an eye on the surf line... --jimh |

Jack, thanks. jimh. This will be our first time ocean fishing. Most of my other fishing is in the Chesapeake so I don't really know what a surf line is. Do I really need binocs to see a it? Sounds like you've done this before. Thanks. Arch |

Arch --- the bino's are for watching where the surf shows a "line" if you can't see the "line" (usually painted in blue and white) then try the beach and study the "birds"! Always find some interesting specimens cavorting or basking --- :) Have fun --- Tom |

I will be in the Ft. Meyers Punta Gorda area from 4/6 - 4/13. If you look closely you will see my father (aka Harpoon Harry) and I running around on a 93 23 Conquest. Particularly making a trip to "Cheeseburger Paradise". |

Going to be pretty hard to see you and your dad O_M -- since a 23 '93 Conquest doesn't exist -- |
