I posted a week ago with some questions about buying a used 15' sport for my dad. Well, I bought the boat last weekend and brought it back to my place. Dad won't be able to pick it up for a few weeks. Just want to express my thanks to all who chimed in to answer my questions and share a few thoughts about the boat. I have been really surprised how well the boat rides and handles. I think it will be perfect for my dad. I have had larger boats for many years, from a 32 foot sport fisher to my current 21' Regulator center console. The feeling of riding right down on the water in the Whaler is nice, and the ability to get into shallower water is great. My wife absolutely loves this little boat, she has never felt comfortable handling the larger boats, but felt right at home behind the controls of the Whaler. I kind of hate that I have to let it go. The 70 hp Evinrude has not missed a beat so far. We are looking forward to the few more days we get to use it before it goes home with dad. I realize that this is old hat to most on this forum, but just wanted to share the thought of a new (but temporary for now) Whaler enthusiast.

Chumboy,

Congratulations! What you have done for your Dad is wonderful. I am sure he will forgive you now for the grey hairs you caused LOL. I am sire your Dad will think of you everytime he takes the boat out. Spend time with him in and out of the boat!

And visit us here, tell us about your new Whaler. (Sure it's in your future)

Tsuriki

My 15-Sport has been in the garage for about 6 weeks waiting to get back to the water. Last week I finally got a chance to drag her over to our local inland lake and take her out for a run, the first one since last September.

Sitting in that thwart seat, close to the water, flying across the lake, I felt like a kid again! What a fun boat to run. In the seven months since I had been out in the 15 I had forgotten how much fun it is to have a small boat to dink around with.
