I just found an 88 20' Temptation with Whaler drive & a fresh water 209 hour 200hp Yamaha. Indoor all its life. Anyone out there owned/experienced a Temptation??? How does 15k sound? I'm looking at several Whalers this weekend. Any comments/suggestions?

Read you`re profile, I agree the old Donzi Classics are awsome, I would lovew to have a `22 Classic with a 454 Magnum! Ye-Ha! I love Whalers first, then Classic square transom go-fasts! Regards-Jack Graner. |

Regarding the Temptation, if you want a cruising/ski boat I think it wouldn't be bad. After all it is a Whaler and it's got the Whaler Drive. The only down side I see is that the boat doesn't look very roomy and doesn't have easy access to the bow. Probably not big issues if your not doing much (or any) fishing. Depending on the condition of the boat and engine the price doesn't sound bad.Good luck, Barry |

I had some friends with the exact same boat, over in Saugatuck MI, purchased new from Tom Crum at West Shore Marine. Wonder if it's their boat? It did not get a lot of use, and was not trailed.Temptations with a single engine (which I never understood) are fairly rare, as Whaler Drive was specifically designed for twin engines. I guess the dealers did this to reduce selling price. |

I am sure your advice would have been helpful to Jeff in 2001, but since it is 2004 and he's already bought and sold a couple of boats since then, he may not have received the full benefit.(A glitch in the software makes the date display incorrectly when a post more than 365 days old is revived.) |

Posted 08/05/04 5:45 PM real time. Really, Jim? (Heck, that ol' Temptation may have rotted away by now.) Since I'm in the Temptation family with my lil' Mischief, don't anybody be frowning on the lack of cockpit space--having all that stowage is great! How much time do we really spend playing that tarpon all around the boat anyway!-Bill |
