HELLO FELLO WHALERS. JUST CURIOUS ON RELAPCING MY STEEERING IN THE BOAT. I AM THRILLED WITH THE BOAT AND AM HAVING A BLAST. MY CONCERNS ARE WITH THE TELEFLEX STEARING SYSTEM. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS IF IT IS WORTH REPLACING THE STEERING WITH MORE UP TO DATE CONVENTIONAL SYSTEMS. ANOTHER QUESTION IS IF I HAVE TO REPOWER THE BOAT BEFORE I CHANGE THE STEERING SYSTEM. I WOULD LOVE TO SIMPLY REPLACE JUST THE STEERING THANKS A MILLION GOD BLESS TO ALL

If you have a Teleflex steering system it is conventional and up to date. If it works and is smooth there is no reason to replace it. All teleflex steering systems are compatable with any engine, so no problem with a re power.

Are you sure that you have Teleflex steering and not rope steering with the pully system? Teleflex No Feedback Steering is rack and pinion steering. I have a 1983 BW 13' Sport with the rope steering that I will probably eventually replace with Teleflex steering which costs about $125. However, at top speed (35 mph) my boat handles fine. I think Boston Whaler switched to Teleflex steering in the mid 1980's. Good Luck.
