hi,
picking up a 70 sakonnet on monday. i would like to weigh the boat before i take final posession. hull has no bottom paint and just the normal spider cracks and corner knicks of a boat 31 years old. but i just want to make sure. how much should the boat weigh?(i have looked at jims stats on the 16 foot hull) does this number include the console and seating weight? how much does the 1970 johnson 125 weight? what is the best weigh to weigh the boat? novice at all of this sorry.

There must be truck scales somewhere near you. An easy way to weigh the boat and trailer is to take get the boat/trailer on a scale after unhitching it from the car. Then, you just need to subtract the weight of the trailer. You should be able to get the trailer weight from the manufacturer of the trailer.

Gravel yard for #. Go by Jim's spec for 16'#. Don't know about the motor #. This subject has come up many times before. It seems like the general consencus is, if no soft spots, and the boat performs ok and floats ok the boats ok. Regards, Jay PS don't forget the traler.

You can get motor weight from www.nada.com marine section. Make sure you have the model #.

If there are any screws in transom from speedometer or transducer etc...remove a screw and make sure no water comes out. Do this after your test drive and reseal screw with 5200 sealant.
