I saw the photo of the 16SL in the cetacea section. There is a 1992/93 16SL for sale in my neck of the woods, and although I am looking for an outrage, does anyone have any comments? Looks like a deep V but not sure whether I am fond of the divided console layout.

Jack, try it out before you buy! I have put some hrs on two of these in the past and here's my opinion: does not have the lateral stability of the montauk and does not perform as well (top speed, time to speed) as a montauk with 90hp.. max rating for the 16SL. I found that it was hard to trim up and that usually I settled for a lot of "tuck-in" to keep it from porpoising! This kept bow down and spray up and may have been the reason for my impression that performance was off a bit from what would normally be expected... On the plus side, it is a pretty boat (subjective of course) and has abundant stowage and nice seating arrangements and seats... Never a popular model... who knows, it may be the ideal boat for you, but if you're looking for an Outrage,,,, well, ?????? hope the above comments are helpful.. happy Whalin' Clark,, Spruce Creek Navy...

PS> both boats had 90hp Yamahas..
