Getting ready to have my 1985 Montauk Awlgripped both inside and out. As I was reviewing the color options the dark blue peaked my interest. I have always liked the look of a dark hulled boat and just wanted other opinions of painting a classic Whaler dark blue with a red boot stripe. Inside of boat will still be off-white. I am just consdering this and would appreciate some feedback.

Coincidentally, I was at a yard in Connecticut today, and saw an 18 Outrage that had been painted yellow(I believe its called lady bird yellow), with green bottom paint and green whaler decals, it looked pretty sharp. I have seen a lot of big sport fishing boats with hulls painted this color lately. The interior had not been painted.

The only thing I have heard about dark colors, such as the flag blue you are talking about, is that they do not hold up all that well in hotter climates.

Friend had a black Nauset with the blue inside. It was sharp. Did not hold up well to scratches.
