While at the New York boat show, I briefly overheard about a hull separation problem with the Conquest. Does anyone know what year and models?

The 1998 28' Conquests had structural problems of some kind, I think in the bow area. Many were recalled or replaced, and some sales were lost because of this problem. This hull design defect also prevented production of the 1999 28 Outrage until 2000. The BW 1999 catalog showed the 28 Outrage on the cover, but they could not be purchased.

I heard a RUMOR that BW had to call in Bob Dougherty to solve the design problem! Can't confirm if it's true or not. I would now assume the problem is corrected, as I have seen the 28's regularly being sold in 2000 and 2001.

Thanks for the info. Strangely enough, I found a 1999 Conquest made in 2000. This boat had the Mecr Opti's completely replaced with 2001 models. Apparently, the guy had problems with the Mercs, threatened suit, and received new ones.
