I'm in the process of restoring a 17' 1966 Nauset. Could anyone give me the dimensions for placement of the rear Whaler emblems? I hope I've gotten the right size. They are about 15" long. Does that sound like the right size?

Montana,

I also have a 1966 Nauset. I am just getting ready to finish the exterior of the hull, but still have the original whaler decal on the port side. I will post the size and location tomorrow.

Montana: I have a '69 Nauset. The overall length of the "Whaler" decal is 14 1/4 inches. I'm using the "swoosh" (sorry Nike) as a point of reference.

For placement on your hull you want to be 13 1/2 inches in from the stern, and 8 inches up from the bottom of the hull side.

Hope this helps..

Thanks Hobie. I'm almost done restoring the center console then I’ll be able to start putting her back together. This project is taking me a lot longer then I had suspected. I’m still hoping to have it finished in time to run it this summer. I’ve just got to irons in the fire.

EddieS, I hope your hull isn’t in as bad a shape as mine was. I inherited the boat from my father-in-law who left it sitting in the water all the time with very little TLC. It made the rounds through the family so by the time I got it I had no choice but to strip the outside hull all the way down to the fiberglass. Four new gelcoats later and she looking pretty good I think.

Thanks for the replies, Montana

Montana,

Hobie is right on the mark. I measured within a 1/4 inch of his calculations. The gel coat on the exterior of the hull was actually in pretty good shape just the interior that was pretty much wasted. Sounds like you had even more work to do on the hull than I did. Knowing how many hours I have put into mine already just makes me cringe at the thought of how many you must have put in.

Good luck, lets get back in the water where they belong!
