After I finished taking off all the old brackets for Loran, depthfinder, etc., the control panel looked like a piece of Swiss cheese. Solution? A piece of teak board from West Marine, bolted over the old holes. Now I can just attach the new electronics to the teak.

Good idea. When I remounted mine, I used a piece of white Starboard.
