just bought a 50hp for our clubs old 16 footer. wonderful motor. question about the fuel fitting. it sure looks, smells feels and seems to fit OMC gas lines but the dealer claims they are different. Can I use my old OMC fuel hoses as backups?? or are the fittings really different. thanks-

Goldstem, I recently eyeballed a Yamaha fitting that I thought was close to ( a malfunctioning ) one I took off another non-Yamaha motor... hooked it up and one squeeze on the primer bulb showed me that the new fitting was too large as fuel splurged out all over at the engine connection. I did not realise till I looked closely at the piece, but there is a small O ring in there that provides your seal - size matters ! Reading your message again I see you are asking about the fuel lines ? Sure, these can be used with any engine, the fitting that connects to the engine is what counts ( sorry for stating the obvious ). You could test the fit pretty easily, as I did, but for the sake of about a $5 fitting why not just get a new one to put on your back-up system or whatever. Ron |

well, our club runs 2 OMC motors plus the new suzuki. the membership is not powerboat savvy so If I can use the same lines less confusion results. if I can't, I can't. since suzuki supplied these motors to OMC (and now Bombadier) which badges them as Johnsons, I hoped the fittings might indeed be identical. |

I just repowered to a Suzuki 4S from a Johnson and they used the old fitting. No problems, so far. |
