schollis,The choice of powerplant calls the performance of both boats into question, but for different reasons: The Outrage may be adequately propelled by a 130HP engine, but not the heavyweight Honda. The static and dynamic trim of the boat will, most likely, be adversely affected, resulting in sluggish planing, poor drainage, and a low top end. The Outrage 18 is made to have an element of performance to it, and I suspect that a large, relatively heavy engine such as the Honda 130 will detract from that.
The Dauntless 22 will support the weight of the engine well. However, a substantial lack of performance will result by powering it with a 130HP Honda. I'd hate to see how that boat (or any boat) would plane with an engine with such a relatively high HP to weight ratio. A 200 or 225 two stroke would be more suitable. The boat will accelerate briskly, plane quickly, and offer respectable cruise and top speeds. Drainage should not be an issue with the 130, as the Dauntless 22 can handle a relatively heavy engine on its transom.
Perhaps proposing a lighter more powerful engine package may entice the dealer to be more flexible if he realizes that you're a serious buyer. No matter what engine package you decide upon, I'd suggest your making acceptance of the boat contingent upon your satisfaction with the boat's performance on a test ride.
Best of luck to you in your decision making.
