It's been about a year since I saw a discussion regarding depthfinders....Loran, Hummingbird, Garmin... Looking for a unit in the $300 to $500 range for a friend's Montauk. Any ideas? Ron R. |

Take a look at www.lowrance.com For the money you can't beat the X85 / X91. High power x-ducer, nitrogen filled enclosure and excellent display with cold cathode lighting. |

Ron, this is the thread that I started; http://continuouswave.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/000458.html . I bought mine at the local West Marine store. I think I found a better price at Bass Pro and West Marione price-matched it. Don |

After checking out the pros and cons of a multidude of units on the market,I settled for a Si-Tex Profish III. What really set it apart from the others was while other fishfinders LCD "washout" in the sunlight, the Si-Tex color screen stays clear and easy to read. It sells for around $400.00. It also has all the "bells and whistles" that I need. |

If you are looking for the X-85, check at Gander Mountain. I purchased mine last December for $299.00. Kevin |
