Seems like after about 5 days in the water, my 1995 Dauntless keeps turning a light orange tint. Originally I thought it was the ramp area where I was launching on Lake Erie, but we took the boat to Georgian Bay in Canada for 8 days just last week. When I pulled it out the hull had the same orange tint. It seems to come off with StarBrite Hull Cleaner pretty easily, but I would like to know if there is a way to prevent it from happening. I waxed the hull with 3M Marine Wax in the spring, but it not seem to help keep it off.

Thanks for your feedback... -Warren

Sounds like your diythian crystal or your spinctoral diode is definately out of sinc with your flux generator...

I suspect the wax may be breaking down, wax something else with the same stuff, maybe a white test article, maybe a plastic object, leave it in the water for a lenght of time and see if it yellows, or get a Ferguson tester and check your spinctoral diode.

You've been watching too much Star Trek and Back to the Future while inebriated. Actually, I think you're suggesting it's a problem with my dilithium crystals and flux capacitor?

Yea, I'd check those too. Sorry - having a smart-#*@! attack today... I'm usually so well behaved.

I have had the same problem with my Whaler hulls, and in the same locations. There is something in Lake Erie that leaves these stains on the hull, at least around the Island areas. In Georgian Bay, it is the tannin (as in tea) stained water in some of the tributaries. A fresh coat of pure wax, such as Collonite's helps a little, but not completely. I have been wondering if Zebra mussels have anything to do with it? Last summer I noticed in Door County WI Lake Michigan waters, the first time ever.
