It seem like it was just a few months ago we were all going to fall shows, and here they are again. I was just curious if anyone planned on going to the Newport show this weekend?
Last fall was able to attend the Norwalk , Ft. Lauderdale, and the Newport. This is by far my favorite. Lots of big boats to dream about, but also tons of realistic boats and items to mull over, plus its in a beautiful town, and if this coming weekend is anything like last it should be great.

No, actually, its this coming weekend. Honestly, in past years I have found the Whaler display a little weak, and the sales people a little stand-offish, they don't like to BS about the boats, they only want to sell. This kind of sucks for them, because I really need to warm up to someone before I drop $20,000.00 on a new boat.

Try closer to $60,000 for a Ventura 21. Nice boats and all but a little pricey. I guess you get what you pay for.

Thanks for reminding me ......I may go to the show as well. Have to see which day is the best boating day and go to the show on the lesser day.
If you talk to John of Madison remind him to send in a contribution to the Jimh Fund. Haven't seen him on the forum lately.

My wife is heading north to the outlets in North Conway, NH this weekend to spend all of my hard earned money. I was thinking my boys and I might head south to Newport to try and beat her to it.
I will post my impressions if we end up going.

Went to the show yesterday, Whaler had about six boats, a 13, 15, 17, 21, 24, and maybe a 25. The 15 looked nice and was decently priced at about $15,300. The new 17 seems like it is starting to creep up in price to around $19,500.
All the other normal manufacturers were represented, GW, Parker, etc, Maritime Skiff had their new 23, really nice with alot of really well thought out amenities.
I spent most of the day checking out lobster style boats, which seem to dominate the show for the last couple of years. All very nice but super expensive.

Good God, I didn't think you were keeping tabs on my "voluntary" contribution to JimH. Perhaps you wish to tell everyone that I have NOW made a contribution, but did so before reading your little hint to Dan.
Should I tell you how much I gave or would you rather tell everybody via another post?

I was looking for you last weekend, we went fishing saturday, and I figured I would see you out. I stop in every once in a while during the week when I am in the area, just to check on the boat.
I was thinking about making a special trip out last week just to give you Ray's message:)
