First time Ive been in a real whaler dealership (I only have Marine Max by me )and what a difference! The last Montauk was in the water and going home, and only 2 of the new 15 ft left out of a dozen, sure looked good though. Also had a bunch of 15 alert hulls for 6000. bare. Just thought I'd share, see ya later, Shawn

Caribee Boat Sales. They are pretty good. Plantation Boat Mart (Plantation Key) also has a nice selection of Whalers if I am not mistaken. There is a large market there for them because everyone passes Key Largo/Tavernier on their way south. Right about now is when all of the "high rollers" start heading in, and many want new toys for the winter. |

Thunderbay, I was at that dealer two weekes ago on a Saturday morning,Oct. 26th I believe. At that time the salesperson also told me that the last Montauk 170 had just left on the water, and that there would not be another available until early in December. Either you were there the same day I was, or where did the other come from? Have you checked ot the Whaler dealer in central Miami (Fisherman's Group/Jet Ski of Miami) they are one of the largest? They are located at SR112 and NW 27th Ave exit. |

That Whaler dealership in the upper Keys is owned by a fellow from Ohio, and a partner, who used to own Portage Entry Marine prior to 1991, in Port Clinton OH. They own Caribbe and the Whaler dealership up the road. In order to get the Whaler franchise, it was necessary to set up a separate location to sell Whaler/Mercury. BW evidently would not allow the Whalers to be sold at a Grady/Yamaha location like Caribbe. |

Two years ago I trailer my 89'Montauk down to Islamorada on the "auto train" whole other story, anyway I have two weeks to fish the keys, First day out my 89' 90hp yamaha starts acting up. Knowing this is my only chance to get a new motor through the wife we go to Caribee and they put a new 2001 90 yamaha on my boat within two days. 7,000 dollars later I'm in happy as a pig in sh%#.While I know I paid full price, Caribee was a pleasure to deal with. When I get back to New Jersey I'm off the beach about four miles when my motor won't start. I call down to Caribee on my cell and they put their head mechanic on the phone and we figure out It's my old controller. After crossing some wires they get me going and on my way. Kinda cool that they got me out of trouble from 1500 miles away. Expensive but worth it. |

Hey Got M Hooked, that was the exact day I was there! Small world huh, and it was the first thing I did that day so it was in the morning hours, couldnt help but be pissed at the old couple getting ready to leave on there new Mountauk! Would buy from that place in a heartbeat, though Im sick of financing everything and making payments so a used mid 80's is looking more probabale right now. See ya, Shawn |
