All, it was finished enough to make it finally hit the water this weekend. Pictures will be soon to follow though I lost most of my early restoration pics due to a hard drive crash. So all I have are pics of the boat coming back together.

Here are the details:

2002 Evinrude 75hp FICHT V-4
20 Gallon Moeller Tank under the seat
New Boston Whaler Montauk Console
Imron with non-skid on the interior
New Rub Rail courtesy of Twin - Cities Marine
New Steering cables & helm & wheel from Surplus Direct

Outside Gelcoat was in great shape and only needed some marks to be removed with a little acetone and rubbing compound. Boat looks brand new!!!

How did it run? Great!! The 75 really pushes it though I don't have GPS speeds to tell but should be in high 30's. Doesn't porpoise until really trimmed up but I have a good deal of trim range even with 335 lbs of motor on back. Oil tank and battery are in the console.

The motor is super nice, shifting with made it feel like it had electric shift it was so smooth, and very very quiet even up and running. Extremely smooth and extremely powerful with lots of torque. If you aren't sitting down when you slam the throttle then you are swimming!

Most of the installation done myself with exception to the painting and aluminum work on the seat.

Tully:

That sounds great. Some pictures would be interesting. I'd still like to buy your outrage, but $$$ are slowing things down.

Here are some pics, hopefully I will have some that will be worthy of Cetacea once I get my bow rail cleaned up and back on.

Both have been great. I was impressed at how reasonable the shipping was from surplus direct as well as their prices.

Tully! Finally someone to talk to that we have something in common!!! i bought a 72 montauk and it was painted yellow with a brush, blown engine, trailer and a fiberglass counsil for $1,000!!!! What a deal, so i hauled it home and sanded it down to the blue...so i thought wait a minute...and as soon as i sanded over the serial # i sent it into whaler and it was a 1966 Nauset at the time! I was stunned about it, so since it was blue in the inside and had a fiberglass counsil, I got the Desert Tan and the white and I had it professionally painted this time and have the correct bottom on it (was suffering from osmosis). I got the engine rebuilt (70 1984 Johnson), and i also got all new teak wood for it...My pics of the whaler will be on this site soon once i get a digital camera.

Boating...Thats what I'd like to call it...in a WHALER!
