Does anyone have an opinion on the best kicker bracket for a 2001 18 foot Dauntless. I would like to mount an 8 HP 4 stroke. Some people have recommended the OMC bracket with gas cylinder assist, others suggest the custom stationary one made by Tanner Manufacturing (www.tannermfg.com).

The OMC let's you raise outboard vertically out of the water, for an easier get-away to another fishing spot; might need to tilt for a long haul since the skeg drags a little. The Tanner one has no moving parts to fail but requires tilting outboard each time you move. Both cost the same and have a following. In would like to choose wisely since I'm drilling holes. Any pointers are appreciated.
