I need to purchase a good quality fitted cover for my Montauk for winter storage but don't want to spend a fortune. I'm looking at a cover made of sundura. Does anyone have experience with this fabric. Any recommendations are appreciated.

Sundura is tops in my book, I purchased one for a 15 SS I had and it was outstanding, quality and fit were perfect.

Go for it you won't be sorry.

Westland Industries in Phoenix, AZ makes great fitting custom covers in canvas, Sharkskin and Sunbrella. I sold them for years and never had a complaint for any brand of boat I ordered it for.
I have the Sharkskin cover on my Montauk and it fits like a glove. After 3 years it's as good as new. These are trailering covers as well as storage covers.

E-mail me if you would like a picture of mine installed.

I purchased a custom made sunbrella cover for my '99 Montauk a few years back but I don't use it anymore because it won't fit around my newly installed kicker. I'd be open to selling it if anyone's interested. I paid $700 Canadian (roughly $450 US) and only used it one winter (and I put one of those cheapo poly tarps on top of the good tarp for added measure)... best offer... I could snap a couple of pics and email them to any interested parties. APOLOGIES that this wasn't posted in the Marketplace section but I didn't start the thread...

Sundura is *not* called Sunbrella, as I think was suggested above. Sundura is Sundura and Sunbrella is Sunbrella; two distinctively different materials made by different manufacturers.

Kingfish is right Sundura and Sunbrella are two different fabrics. Sundura is much stronger then Sunbrella and is perfect for covers, Sunbrella is good but it leans more towards use as a bimini.

I bought my Sundura cover I think at Overtons cost me about 250 bucks about 5 yrs ago, well worth the money............

Despite young BugsyG's family being in the marine canvas business, he has confused SUNBRELLA and SUNDURA. They are two different fabrics.

Sunbrella is the trademark name of an acrylic fabric woven by Glen Raven Mills and used in premium marine canvas applications like bimini tops, forward shelters, etc. The Wm. J. Mills products all use Sunbrella fabric, and these products have shown outstanding durability.

SUNDURA is a trademark name of PPG Industry's and is associated with polyester fabrics that have a polyurethane top coating to enhace water resistance. It is often used for boat covers.

Thanks for all the input. I've ordered a sundura cover from Overtons to fit the Montauk. I've seen a couple of posts on this cover and both had good remarks. Two pluses: its affordable and has a 5 year warranty. It should arrive in a week or so and I'll post my opinion at a later date in case anyones interested.

I have an Overtons Sundura cover on my Eastport. I fits well and still looks like new after a year of constant use. I added 3 support bows to help water drain and to handle the weight of snow.
