Maybe someone who has fished both boats can help me. I have a beautiful '18 Outrage. I have come to find out BW made a 20 footer for a few years in the late 80s. My question is--where did they put the extra space? Is it forward of the cockpit-I see in various pictures that there is extra storage there--or is it rear of the cockpit? This would be a real improvement to fishability--and may put me on the hunt for a '20. By the way--I can't go higher than a '20--won't fit in the garage. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Steve

The 20-Outrage (c.1985) is quite different than the 18-Outrage of the same era. The 20-Outrage is really a 22-Outrage with two feet removed from the hull in the stern. You would need a substantially larger than average garage (20 x 20) to house a 20-Outrage.

JIMH, so the stern fishing room is pretty much the same for an '18 and '20? Thanks

The 20 Outrage is a lot more boat than the 18, and weighs 50% more. In 1986, when I bought my 18, I actually wanted to get the 20, since in 1986 it was only $1300 more! But, not knowing as much about trailers as I do now, I couldn't find a 6'8" wide trailer to handle the boat's weight. I needed this to fit into my 8'-0" garage door. So I went with the 18. The 20 has the same space behind the console as the 18, with similar spashwell configuration, but the bow area is huge, identical to the 22. The same Mills canvas for the 22 fits the 20.

I think the 1985-1989 20's were great boats, but they weren't very popular, because for another $1700, you could get a 22 (in 1986). Most opted for the longer hull. Same applied to the Revenge versions.

etstmeb,
I have fished and worked on both sizes. As stated in earlier posts, the 20' is much more boat than the 18'.
The bow is where you get the extra space and it improves the ride. I could not fit my 20' in the garage.
Peanut Gallery has spoken.

I have owned two OR20. A 1978 years ago, and currently have a 1988. I love the boat but when it gets above 2 1/2 foot chop it starts to ride pretty hard. It has a wider beam and as already stated is a different hull mold then the 18. Definitely more room than the 18. Just some food for thought- spend a couple of grand more and get the 22. I love my 20 but wish I had a little mroe room and smoother ride. I have a bench seat in the back and two capitains chairs. Believe me its fine for sitting but you can't walk around very well. Regards.
