I followed my usually unreliable instincts and brought home my 'new' 1977 Montauk despite its superficial rough appearance. It looks like I made a good bet. The boat was dirty, chalky and weathered but is cleaning up like new china with lhg's three step method and a little teak oil. It has a 1986 Mariner 115 and a 27 gallon Pate tank. A few of the usual parts need replacement: RPS cushion, compass, black vinyl on console, lens on bow light and bimini. With these replacements (which I will post for on 'Marketplace'), it will be pretty much up to date. Yahoooo!Rick

Rick, Congratulations on your new find. It will be great to see another Montauk fishing for Texas specks & reds. Chad |

Thanks guys. Chad, I should be easy to spot for awhile. I'll be the one with the grin. Rick |

Just out of curiousity, how does that make you different from anyone else fishing for specks from a Montauk? After all, even the boat has a smirk....tds |

Congrats on the new boat. Try West Bay....the trout have been great lately. Caught nine trout a couple weeks ago with 5 of them in the 20-21" class. |
