OK ... so I very well know it wasn't a whaler, but ... the sportfish convertible that was called "Stugotz" (sp) on the Sopranos season ender was absolutly gorgeous. It was not your standard Bertram, Hatteras, Viking, Ocean or Post. I'm thinking Rybovich .... anyone out ther know for sure ? |

I believe it is an Egg Harbor. |

It was a great looking boat. It does not look like the same boat that they showed a few seasons ago, I like it a lot better 11 |

Definitley not an Egg HArbor, but that was the old boat on the show--they changed. Looks to me like a custom NC type boat--very hot |

Not sure that it was a Rybo either; the hull ooked like glass not wood. My guess is that it was a Viking. Brian |

Egg has the new "Predator" line, but I don't think that was an Egg. the Predators that I've seen have been an express. It didn't have a "Carolina Flare" either, so no "Buddy" ... I'm thinkin' Rybovich .... but damn it was sweet lookin' !! |
Bertramp |

"Outrage" .. I don't think it was straight glass ... I think it was a cold mold hull. that's part of why I guess Rybovich. |

If anyone taped it and is capable of posting a picture, I may be able to help identify it. There are a few custom shops down here in Florida which use "signatures" in every design such as salon window shapes, hull tumble home, forepeak shape, etc. They are instantly recognizable characters. |

I saw the show too and my wife and I were talking about the boat. My guess is that is is a new Luhrs. |

posted 12-11-2002 10:22 AM ET (US)
How could a Luhrs look that good:) Stugotz from what I have been told means "the haves!" Ungotz means nothing...to have nothing. "Joey how much money yous got?" Mikey....Ungotz!" So from what my friends mom said it means the people who have.....not the have nots. It is more of an expression than a word. Anyone know for sure? |

in one episode tony says she has 600hp, for something that size it must be one engine, also when she comes up onto a plane they use the sound of outboards screaming. Maybe I am just nuts! |

not a Luhrs .... they don't look that good. A buddy of mine (my diesel mechanic) says it's a Jarret Bay ... a possible choice. It was NOT a stock, off the shelf boat. |

Who knew? All this time I thought Gavone meant a pig. Usually someone who just stuffs their face. It means you are lazy like a slob...not hungry like one....oops! i wished they had cabish or cabeesh, etc on there so I would know how to spell it. |

Hey, I am not saying that Luhrs are great boats but the sportfish on the Sopranos does look like a new Luhrs. They look different than they did years ago. By the lack of teak cockpit coaming and the small flybridge I don't think it is a Carolina type custom boat. |

I think it is an Ocean 48 or 52...... From Ocean's website: |

Oceans don't have the side vents that was on the boat in question nor do the Luhrs .... no disrespect intended for either of those boat manufacturers, I just don't think it was their boat. |

Older Oceans do have side vents... Picture of a 44' 1988 Ocean: For the record, I am just guessing that it is an Ocean. |

We need 11 to review the tape and advise. It is not an ocean, by any means. It is a carolina type boat--jarert bay or little rybo-type. Don't think it was 40 feet --anyone guess on length? |
11 footer |
posted 12-15-2002 10:19 AM ET (US)
From looking at the tape no way is it 40 feet. I would say it is anywere from 35' to 37' feet at the most, 11 |

As you probably already know, this site is focused on Boston Whaler boats, particularly the pre-1990 "classic" models. The popular HBO television show has spawned a number of websites devoted to the production and all the many details. If you'd like to learn how to curse in Italian-American, please consult: |

I really do not wish to push this topic up to the top again, but I cannot go on through life with Bigshot killing the Italian language again! ;-) [i} i wished they had cabish or cabeesh, etc on there so I would know how to spell it.[/i] The word you are trying to say is "capisce". It is translated as meaning "understand" in English. It is pronounced ka-peesh". E' chiaro, Bigshot? |

I know what it means, just not how to spell it.....capisce! Now the question I have to ask you is....how can I trust you that your spelling is correct? |

BS: Try Barnes & Noble under "Reference, Foreign Languages, English to Italian" ...works everytime. Or, you can just trust me. :) |
