Here she is (maybe hyperlinked picture below) otherwise cut and paste the URL below. This is my 4th Whaler hence my "handle" and Im back where I started in 1976 with a 15 foot Sport w/two bench seats, steering console (old style with wheel almost horizontal to water) and only side rails. I had the most fun with it being inland pretty far. I sold it to a friend when I got stationed in Korea. Bought a new Montauk 17 in 1984 and kept it until 1986 when I got a 20 Walkthru. Sold it when I retired from Army in 1990 and have been boatless intil this last weekend when I started all over again. This one is a GLS with no wood (yea I know its not a real classic but the wood while it looked good but a pain to keep nice, especially when your a SCUBA diver). Im inland again in upper Alabama and will be using it in the lakes and rivers around here with an occasional run down to the Gulf coast and maybe the Florida keys. Damn nice boats.... always liked them 15 footers.. This one did about 30 kts on the river when I took it out to test, plenty fast considering the 15 kt winds and chop... cut them very nicely thank you... Montauk would have pounded more... Walkthru wouldn't have noticed.

Man that boat looks nice.
I always look at my 15 and think, thats a cool boat, then I see other ones and I think, damn thats nicer than mine.
I gotta give it to the 15's, not too big, not too small and those who have had or have them sure do like em.

4whaler,

Congradulations on aquiring such a good looking rig. I have a 15' striper that I fish out of in East Tennessee area. (Knoxville) Actually I'm visiting Dad here in Huntsville, AL for the weekend. Notice the boat registered in North Carolina. Did you buy the boat in NC? Enjoy your new boat.

Happy Holidays,

BC

BC, Yep drove up to Greenville NC to pick it up this last weekend. Picture is actually the one the former owner sent me. He responded to a post I put here on the Whaler Forum looking for a 15 or 17 ft. Sport/GLS. He said he was getting ready to put it up but handn't gotten around to it yet, but if I was intrested.... as you can see picture looked good so I sent him a deposit contingent on my personal inspection. It passed muster and I paid him the balance and drove it home down here in ALABAM..

Big Shot,
Its a 50HP 2cyl with 11 3/4 x 17 prop. Im looking for a stainless steel one for it now? Not sure I should stay with the current pitch or go down to a 11 3/4 x 15 or 12 1/4 x15. It has power tilt and trim so I can adjust. With the current aluminum prop it runs full open at the factory spec'd 5500 rpms with just me a half full 12 gal underseat tank and three 10-15lbs dogs.. Plenty fast when the temp is in the mid 50's and your bare faced..... but I plan on hauling 3 divers and 6 SCUBA tanks on occasion out to the reefs in the Florida Keys and offshore in Panama City Florida to wreck dive on flat days.

Not positive but I believe that engine runs 5000-6000 rpms at WOT. So if you are getting 5500 with the 17 and 6k is redline, drop to the 15" SS.
