Going to Tampa/ St Pete tomorrow to pick up a couple of SUV's. Would like to stop along the way and also check out any outboard motor dealers for 40/50 HP 4 Strokes to repower my kid's boat. (14 Mckee) I will be traveling from Tampa through Orlando on I4 and then up I95 to SC.

Does anyone know of any dealers along the way with decent deals on Mercury, Yamaha, Suzuki?

Thanks. Chris Gypin clgypin@comcast.net

Chris:

I'll call around for you but I need more info:

15/20" shaft?
New or used?
Controls/prop needed?
Tiller or remote steering?
Engine preference or dislikes?

BTW, Yamaha dealers won't sell in the box typically without installing on the boat.

You can punch in the town (orlando) and state and it will give you a list. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply Dave

Looking for:

20" Shaft
New or slightly used
Need controls and prop but not required
Remote Steer
Power TNT

Prefer in order Mercury, Yamaha, Suzuki, Evinrude. I'm really pretty open on brand. Even open to 2 Stroke. Ideal motor would be Merc 40 4Stroke Big foot leftover. I have checked most of the internet sources and some of the webpages for specials. Wanted to get some local knowledge on good deals or dealers to shop on the way back through.

Thanks

Chris:
On such short notice, this is what I found in stock from our typical lower priced dealers:

Hontoon Marine Sanford, FL, (800) 705-7453 ask for Matt
(used) 2000 Yamaha F50 4s (about 300 hrs) $4100
2003 yamaha T50 (high thrust 4s) complete with rig kit (controls, prop, tach) $6150 (less $425 w/out rig kit)

Bass Pro Shops Orlando, FL (407) 260-5792 ask for Craig
2002/2003 Merc 4s 50Hp EFI (PTnT, no controls or prop) $ 5129
2002/2003 Merc 4s 40Hp, EFI (PTnT, no controls or prop) $ 4,699

Stuart Marine Sanford, FL (407) 322-7786 ask for Rich
2002 Yamaha 2s 40Hp, carb (PTnT, no controls or prop) $3200
2001 (leftover) Yamaha F50 4s, carb (PTnT, no controls or prop) $ 4965

Nobles Marine Orlando, FL (407) 260-5792 ask for Gary Thompson
2002 Merc 40Hp 2s (2 cylinder) carb (PTnT, no controls or prop) $ 3200
2002 Merc 40Hp 2s (3 cylinder) carb (PTnT, no controls or prop) $ 4965

This is not, in my opinion the best pricing I've ever seen. I would email "Bigshot" since he regularly is in contact with Tampa/gulf area dealers.

Bigshot's e-mail: bigshot457@cs.com

I'm sure he could do better.

Good Luck

Got back from Tampa yesterday with two vehicles from ebay. Good experience, not great though. Got delayed by the plane crash in Charlotte. We were in line for takeoff and the plane that crashed was two ahead of mine. Delay was explained by the crew as an airport emergency. Did not find out it was a plane crash until after I arrived in Tampa. Minor details with the vehicles prevented me from getting on the road until late.

Thanks again for the info.
