Took the wife and the demo helmsman out of the IC into Port Everglades cut today. Have not rode one or any earlier versions before. It takes some getting used to such a small package with what turned out to be fairly good sea keeping abilities. The squared off bow maybe 3ft came off? The 90 4 stroke had more than enough power and was extremely quiet and smokeless. We believe with confidence on a flat morning the boat can cross the gulfstream to Bimini. We tried to get water over the bow but could not with who was going out and the conditions being only 1-3. Backed down in a following sea no water over the transom. I weigh 320 lbs rocked her on a beam nothing particular, I have an 8 year old daughter with Downs Syndrome felt confident with the rails though I believe the older ones were higher and more cemented. This vessel will serve us for drift fishing, trolling, and cruising the IC and inland lakes and rivers, i.e. ...everything. We own a brokerage that specializes in trawlers and passagemakers, so it has been a while other than a dinghy ride. I think this boat will take more than its occupants would want to take themselves. It does pound though but I am not the one to judge. Will option it out with a bimini, fishing pkg, Garmin 188C, handheld VHF, pace 27 gl tank, aft cushion /backrest pads, second battery, nooring, swing away trailer w/drum brakes. And the most important....it fits in the garage!!!!

The trailer with the swing tongue is good but its not necessary to order trailer brakes....... waste of money. I have trailered mine from Vermont to Delaware with no problems. SAVE YOUR MONEY

Gargae will not allow over 20', I own a Volvo V70 Cross Country will tow up to 1100lbs w/o brakes and up to 3500lbs w/ brakes

Do NOT get the brakes. They will last 2 seasons and then you will have frozen wheels and a boat stuck in garage. Don't worry about the capacity on the car, it can handle it.

If someone were to get into a serious accident with the above described Volvo and the boat weighed 2000 pounds and the trailer did not have brakes and there is an attorney involved - look out.

Get the brakes! If you hit someone without them, you are responsible. Period.

Insist on disc/stainless. They hold up very well.

Yes, swing away tongues are avialable with brakes and surge couplers.

dealer asking 500 for the upgrade from the pkg deal ezloader to the swing tongue with drum surge brakes. By the way he told me today BW has come out with a prototype rear folding down bench seat that fits over those steps aft in the new BW 170 and across the engine transom area. They want over 1400 for it, but it will alleviate the seating problem plus it seems one seated there would get a softer ride being on the sled part of the hull.

Trust me....nobody wants to sit next to the engine when on plane. I think they think the engine is gonna bite them.

is that because of the noise; the 4 stroke is really quiet; or is it the sense of power that might jump out at you?

"We believe with confidence on a flat morning the boat can cross the gulfstream to Bimini."

Ah, the memories. In the 60's and in my reckless teens, my buddies and I made it to Bimini and back in a 14 foot Woodson with an Evinrude 33. The trick was to follow a bigger boat in case of trouble. If only my parents knew....
