all that is needed is a special base that the trolling motor mounts on.

the trolling motor will mount to the base. then the base, that has the trolling motor is mounted to, will mount on the baseplate that stays on the boat.

i jut saw one installed a few weeks ago. i will find out more info and pass it on to you.

I have a bow mount on my 99 Montauk and it works great.
I wonder though that with the lower bow rail on the 170 it might be a problem.

The new wireless remote for MinnKota's AP motors has been getting very good reviews from the anglers who have used it. Eliminates operating hassles from railings without tying you to a foot control.

I am partial to the Minn Kota Power Drive series, with or without auto-pilot. The "Riptide" Group of these are designed for saltwater use, they perform well, no foot controls, and have a good warranty. They make different mounting brackets for ease of removal and akward application.

Can't miss. Just put one on my Outrage.

Try talking to Boston Whaler customer service. Many boats in their 2003 catalog have bow mount trolling motors on them.
