geraldored	posted 03-30-2003 04:06 PM ET (US)         Just found this site. I notice that in a discussion of rare Whalers the name "Tashmoo" is thought to have come from some inland lake. More likely it came from "Lake Tashmoo", a salt pond on the north shore of Martha's Vineyard, just a few miles East of Menemsha.
