Just purchased a 27 w/T200's last saturday and having it hauled to Cape May tomorrow. Any other 27 owners out there to offer any tips. I am looking forward to ride in the 10' beam. Upgrading from a 22 Revenge.
The person we bought from was the 3rd owner. The original owner as I was told was a past president of whaler. The original packing and shipping lists it as a employee purchase. I checked w/Whaler and they did confirm it was an employee but listed no name

I'd love to see a pic of that boat. Please email me one. Maybe someday you could attach one to your post. <G>

The 27's are amazing boats and will give you the capability of doing some serious offshore fishing from Cape May.

Good Luck and keep us abreast of your progress.

I will post pix as soon as it gets to NJ and I get some. .

Blackdog, no name yet. I am moored at West Bay in West Wildwood. Thinking about two names. Whaler IV or Final Dream? This is our 4th Whaler so the names say it all.

Pix are coming. The boat arrived tuesday after a 13 hour haul. Snow, rain, traffic, accidents, the hauler seen it all. First class hauler would recommend to all.
The women we bought the 27 from had a 28 Conquest she just bought. I told her I would talk to her in a few years. The 28 looked a lot larger than the 27.

My copy of the 1988 30th year anniversary issue of the "Whaler News", dated 10/17/88, shows Whaler President Bill Ryan at the helm of a 27 Full Cabin. The boat appears to have a hard top fitted. Sound like your boat?

Thanks for the info. The Whaler that I got has a bimini top with radar tower.

Congrats, I think you'll love the boat. I purchased a 1985 27 cuddy last summer and replaced the OMC Seadrives with a Stainless Marine Bracket and twin 250 Yamahas. I just got her in the water about a month ago. I documented the entire process in photos and have submitted the pics for a Cetacea page. It was a pretty major upfit. I also submitted to Cetacea a great article in the April issue of Chesapeake Bay Magazine on the 27 full cabin It is all about the mid 1980's 27 Whalers design, construction, on deck, below deck, power and performance, sea trial, prices and availability and re power ideas.

You have a great boat.
