I had a good conversation with a cop on the Inner Harbor of Baltimore this weekend. He told me they had Montauks in the 1980's and upgraded to 19' CC. I saw the boat with a 225hp Johnson. I was not sure what type of BW it was. He told me the Montauks always became water logged. He also said they no longer buy Whalers that have the divers door because the hull would flex and crack from the stress. He said the deck and hull would get stress cracks everywhere.
What a great job this guy had. He was docked in the Inner Harbor next to Hooters!
They auction the BW when they buy new.

Sounds like they need a better maintenance program.

Have seen some of the whalers up there. There seem to be a lot of them ! Not to read between the lines but I do not think Whaler has ever put a dive door under 18 feet long. Maybe it was a aftermarket improvement/failure. Anyway....

I think the dive doors were on the 19' + boats that came factory installed. I did like the boat I saw. Nice CC and wide open.
