In my Outrage I get water in the bilge even when the plug is in. Was on trailer and dry, about four hours later I looked and the bilged had an inch or two of water. The seas were dead come and no water entered teh boat from spray. The boat performs fine, but I was curious where this water is coming from.I am happy to announce that I launched her today and had a blast. I still need to pull her back out and do the bottom paint etc. But it was fun to leave her on the mooring overnight and I'll cruise tomorrow.

Here is oa guess. Is the front through hull plugged in the front locker? If it is not plugged, and you are missing your from clamshell, then that locker can actually fill up with water, water then can go through the hole in the aft wall of the locker and fill up the bilge. Just a guess, but it has happened to me - I gotta replace that clam shell. Todd |

Your fuel tank sits in a wet cell, the water could have been in that cell from a previous trip & when you ran the boat this time, it was able to flow back to the sump because of going over waves & changing the angle of the boat, thus it flows to the stern sump. Sal |

Thanks for the quick reply. The front anchor locker is unplugged and I was sitting and drifting. The clamshell are in place though. I never noticed a through drain from the front locker to the bilge though. Sal- your thoughts on the foam in the fuel area are also good. I noticed that the drain from the fuel area into the bilge seeped some water when it was on the trailer. I have 3 holes between that compartment and the bilge. Two contain the fuel hoses for twins. I use a single so one is capped off. The other appears to be a drain. Thanks for the quick replies. |

mustang7nh,What year is the Outrage to which you're referring? Is it an 18, 20, 22, or 25? What engine(s) do you have on it? PM |

1988 engine and hull, OR20, Johnson 200hp. The amount of water really amounts to probably less than a gallon, but its always strange that when I do put the plug in the bilge never stays dry. Granted, it does eventually spill over or anything. My friend has a Mako and says his does the same thing. Maybe the plugs seep a little, who knows? |
