Tomorrow at noon the Montauk is heading south 1600 miles for a week of fishing, fun and much needed relaxation in FL. I am leaving behind about an inch of ice covering everything, sometimes I wonder why I live in this god forsaken land. My attitude will certainly change about Tennesee or Kentucky, always does when I go past Land Between the Lakes, looks like a great place to explore. Will be testing my new jackplate to the limit, seeing if Starboard is as good as it looks, and finding out if a 4 blade Power Tech is worth the extra money. I will let every one know in about two weeks. Adios!

Hey hey! "god forsaken land"? We both know thats not the correct name. God's Country!Hope you're not going to miss opening day Sir. I'll be up there in the 15 (with new steering, thanks). Perhaps we'll hit Booth and I'll look you up. Enjoy the trip! |

I lived in Milwaukee and Madison until 1983 when I moved to Florida and never looked back. Enjoy your trip. Where are you headed in Florida? |

The SOUTH is great; however we do pay our dues during June, July, and August. |

The attitude has been adjusted! Had a great vacation at Little Gasparilla Island in FL, put many miles on the Montauk, did some fishing, kayaking, and plenty of relaxing. The power jackplate worked great running the flats, even using the yamaha 17 pitch aluminum prop. I tried the SS powertech 15pitch 4 blade but could only hit 4800 rpm's so it went back in the box to be exchanged. I had blocked off the top inch of the water intake screens with JB Weld, worked great, with 20 psi at 4000 rpms jacked to the top on the flats. The 4 blade prop had great holding power at the lower rpm's so can't wait to get the pitch right. I feel the key to improving the ride quality is being able to hold plane at the lower speeds. The kayak racks that I made from aluminum tubing, King Starboard, and pipe insulation worked as planned, allowing me to hang the yaks on the outside of the boat from the rails and still plane off. The Starboard hatch replacement is great, easy to clean and makes the boat look like a 5 year old boat instead of 30 years old. It was good to return to the North, the ice was off all the lakes and the loons were calling back and forth as I unloaded the truck. Now comes the task of getting the salt and road grime off the boat and equipment, it is amazing how bad a boat can look after a week in the salt! prj, The DNR shocked Bolger Lake last week, many large walleyes, good time to fish the lake. I will be at a funeral Fri. and Sat. but will be home Sun, if you are on the lake stop by and say hello, we can have a cold one. |

Bolger, correct. Welcome back and thanks for the invite. Might just take you up on that. |
