As some in the northwest may have already guessed, I am the new owner of Ian Goltz's 25 outrage. I would like to impress upon all the pleasure of dealing with Ian during this process (at least I had a pretty good time) and say that as a businessman it was nice to deal with someone whose ethics are akin to mine. Our deal was not without some roadblocks which we mutally worked our way around. It was kind of interesting purchasing a trailer before surveying the craft and from his or at least his wife's standpoint, me driving off with craft in tow without the verification of a personal check was also an indication of how the deal had progressed. She is plying the Columbia while I fine tune some engine and prop problems and looks fine in the driveway next to the Katama. I am sure that many question will follow and will try to search out answers before I post. Once again, thank you,Ian.

Oh make me blush... but my wife is a gem... all business. She just canceled my check to the yard for work on my race boat... something about a $450 estimate becoming $2100. And its is amazing how I can be in trouble for buying and then selling the same boat! What can I say... love at first sight!

I think many of us will agree that almost as important to sell things to the right person as it is to buy from the right person...

But Larry...tell the truth... what was it? 41 knots at 4800 rpm - down hill right! Not bad for an 1982 Johnson. Sorry about the #2 plug... I probably did that putting it in. As you can see... I didn't put a lot of effort into that engine.

cheers
Ian

I like this. A guy named Goltz sells a 25 Outrage to a guy named Larry. Enjoy your new Whaler!

Hey. Its a big name to live up to...

The worst thing about this whole deal is that I am now comparing everything to the 25 Outrage. Knowing the Outrage went to a better home is great... knowing that the dock is empty is another.

This weekend we did a little shopping. But stepping on to an newer 22 Glacier Bay - my first comment was - wow thing doesn't feel as solid as the Outrage. A really really realy nice ride in heavy chop especially with twin 140s - but it did feel a little light at the wheel. Couldn't make the boat hit hard on any waves... doing that beer on the dash board test! Pretty impressive for a light boat.

It could be that I'll be back to a slightly bigger Whaler soon enough...

Ian,
You are right. Actual numbers from gps were 4600 rpm and 34 mph Upriver (uphill) and 4800 rpm and 36 mph downriver. Will update next trip out with new plugs and decarboned.

Larry, this is a little weird. I think I saw this episode of The Twilight Zone.

There must be a strong correlation with having the last name Goltz and owning a 25 Outrage. We should study this further.

Called about the covers again last night... will do it daily until I hear.

Fast enough for knee boarding? Do you have any of those standing waves around to tow the boy over??

cheers
Ian
