My six year old daughter presented me with a picture of our boat the other day, and I thought some of the other Dad's out there might enjoy seeing her view of our Montauk. http://www.realfolks.org/wayalrh.jpg You will see the blue canvas of the forward shelter, a center console with a wheel, the flying top, and then my daughter Maighread and me (I'm the one with the facial hair). You can tell that there is some childlike fantasy involved here, because both of the figures in the picture have hooked fish and this never happens on my boat. |

Hey are those Sea Turtles (protected) your fishin for? And if I'm not mistaken that looks like a spotted owl (also protected) you have teathered from the anchor line. You better take a closer look at the Fish and Game coloring book...Regards pb |

When our daughter was three, I took her on her first fishing trip, tomorrow she will be 23 and we're going fishing. I have a piece of refrigerator art very close to that just blue and a little older. Keep up the family values, they pay big dividends in the future. Great story! |

Very nice picture. My six year old son often draws our whaler too. Great thing is, like your picture, it always has him and his mom and dad in the picture. I hope he always values our family time this way. |

I love it. My 3 1/2 year old son has been having a reoccurring dream lately about his Whaler. Apparently, it has grown a toilet, shower and dining room. This is all from the 18 Outrage he loves to go out on. My wife is now firmly convinced that there is really very little that separates father and son |

And my 16-year-old son, nasty teenage brute that he is, started sailing and fishing with me at the same age I started with my dad, seven. Now it's a Whaler and salmon fishing. My girl (13) likes to putt around the harbor; she's not much for fishing, sailing or rough water. My wife...now that's another story. Great drawing...absolutely made my day, Taylor. Best regards to you and your sweet girl, Tony |

Thanks for sharing Taylor! My daughter Maria (3 1/2 years old) also loves the Whaler and has been enjoying Springer Salmon fishing with my wife and I. It's great that we can all share the Whaler spirit as a family; glad to see you are doing the same. See you at the next rendezvous. |

I'm using my 3 year old as a marketing tool. He repeats to my wife that "Daddy has a small boat...Daddy needs big boat." Of course I unashamedly indoctronate him with this mantra while harbor cruising in the 13 Classic. Hopefully it will work towards a 22 Outrage! |

Most excellent, Clark family. If other dads wanted to put up artwork made by their children, what is the procedure to do that? Do we have to have our own websites? |

Great pic and story,Taylor. My oldest daughter is 20 and we got our 18 Outrage when she was 6.We fished, skied, and whalered together a lot until she lost interest at about age 13.Last Christmas she was home from college and went out night fishing for Stripers with me 3 times. She now wants to fish and go whalerin again. Thanks for rekindling special memories. |

Taylor: Excellent post! Stirs up a lot of reminiscences amongst us older Whaler people. My daughter, Megan, first fished with me at age 4, and now - at 28 - still takes a week with me and my Whaler and we fish and cruise Door County, WI. I second the "Thank Heaven for Little Girls" sentiment! |
