I had to order a replacement injector for a 225 today. Retail price $525.00, times 6 if you have to replace all that is $3,150.00. I didn't think about it at the time but tomorrow I'll pull up Opti injectors and see how they compare in price.Dick

LarryI am not a Yamaha dealer so I can't get their prices. Mercury injectors for the 225 Opti are only $131.30. I think I would have to think long and hard befor buying a Ficht, with the thought of injector problems after the warranty runs out. Dick |

I really don't know much about the type of injectors used in the marine world, but for the auto industry, one can obtain injectors for a V8 for less than $100... All that I needed to know was the lb/hr and make of vehicle... The needed # (lb/hr) is a mathmatic equation based on cui, rpm, and pump pressure... I'll bet one could cross-reference the manufacturer (of the injector, not the outboard) on the internet and then easily obtain them at 1/10 the cost you stated... I replaced mine (in van) a couple years ago for under $100 (remanufactured and flow matched) and they still work great... Might be worth your time to check out... |

I doubt very much you will be able to cross reference the injectoer for the FICHT engine. They are not interchangable even with other cylinders. Each injector is specific for a certain cylinder, big writting on the sides saying,,....Can not be moved to another cylinder. Sal |

SalThere is only one part number to order injectors so all cylinders use the same one. I think you are correct in that they can not be moved, but only after the brain box is programed. I agree, I doubt that there are any aftermarket injectors available for outboards. Dick |

Dick is right, there is only one type of injector that is programmed using the OMC FFI diasgnostic software. Fichts are great when the run right and they are fairly easy to diagnose and repair, but they are spendy to fix. |

Todays FICHT engine are probably the most dependable of the bunch. Don't think for 1 minute that Merc & Yamaha haven't had more then their fair share of problems. If you think their bullet proof, you really don't know much about todays engines. Merc blew as many power heads with the opti as omc did with the icht & Yamaha stopped making their hpid engines for quite a while until the problems were solved. Dont knock any of todays engines & say this one is better then that one because it's just not true. Sal
