frined just got a montauk not sure of the year. I looked at the reference but could not figure it out myself, The metal tag reads 5329 82J And the black number in the splash well reads 3b8285 I think it is an 82. DOes this sound right?

It sounds right...
The number probably is:
BWC5329M82J
This boat was built in May of 1982 as a 1982 Model...
Would you like to list his boat on the Montauk list?
All I need is a name....

I left out a letter...
BWC?5329M82J
The reason the "BWC?" and the "M" are hard to read is because these were stenciled on instead of stamped in... These letters can probably be read with a magnifying glass and in the proper light.. You may even have to look at it sideways....
