I am interested in purchasing a new 170 Montauk boat, motor and trailer package. A dealer has a 2003 and a 2004 with the standard 90 HP Mercury 2 stroke Saltwater engine, the optional fishing package and a galvanized trailer. The list price he showed me was a little under $25,000. His "deal" price is just under $21,000. I think I can get him to $20,000 even. I read in the reference section of this great forum that the introductory MSRP of the 2002 170 Montauk package was $17,655. Sounds like my deal price is not such a great deal. Does anyone know the current MSRP of the 2003 or 2004 170 Montauk? Also, what has anyone paid for one minus tax and licensing? I’m trying to get the best deal I can and the only way to do that is to have plenty of information. Thanks in advance to everyone who replies! Safe boating!

I was quoted around $19,500 with 90 2 stroke, aftermarket bimini, swim platform, fishing package, nice coast guard kit and manditory trailer. I went with a four stroke though and factory bimini which I really like. This is before tax . Barney |

About a month or two ago the MSRP in NJ was just under 18K for the boat, motor(2S, and trailer. God, do I dislike dealers like the one you are talking to. |

The options add up though and don't forget delivery. Go to another dealer if you can. I tried and got a similar quote that you have, so I kept pestering the original dealer. Barney |

The GENERAL forum is not for posting of notices of for sale goods or for notices of wanted to buy, nor should it be used to solicit appraisals of prices of boats, new or used. This post does not belong in the General forum. I find two basis for objection to it. Since it deals with a specific model of Post-Classic Boston Whaler it should be posted to the POST-CLASSIC forum. Or, since it solicits information about price, discounts, and other elements related to buying and selling, it should be in the MARKETPLACE forum. Please choose your forum and repost.
