I have been offered a 13' Whaler with good 25 hp engine and trailer for $1,000. I think it is around 1961 but I will check the serial number. What exactly should I look at/for before purchasing this that would make it a deal breaker? I plan on buying it, as I have been looking for a classic whaler I could afford for a long time. Thanks in Advance! Paul St. Michaels, MD

Paul.If the motor runs and the trailer moves you have a free boat. You may want to look back in the search engine for tips on what to look for about the boat. Gelcoat cracks, water intrusion, transom wear sre just a few things to look for. Have fun looking through the site! Regards, Jay |

Don't forget the weight of the hull. The hull is ~400 lbs. If it is a bunch more, you may have a water intrusion problem. But at $1000, as Jay said, you may just get a free hull.tds |

Check the drain tubes, make sure they are intact and not corroded through. If they are they're not too difficult to replace before launching. |
