What years did 18's come with wood on the gunnels? When did they stop using wood and go to gel coat only? I'm see advertised '87's with and without wood.

Thanks,

Dave

Dave,

When the Outrage 18 was introduced in 1981 it came with teak gunwale boards. Beginning with the 1986 model year, fiberglass gunwale boards became available as an extra cost option. This continued until 1990 when the fiberglass gunwale boards became standard and the teak gunwale boards were an extra cost option.

Thus a 1987 Outrage 18 could have either teak or fiberglass gunwale boards.

After 1992, the teak option was dropped altogether.

Tom - minor correction, 1989 was the year when they flip-flopped, making the glass gunwales standard. On my 1989 25, I had to pay the $300 extra for teak gunwales.

Larry,

I stand corrected.

For the record, as of August 1988 (for the 1989 model year) the fiberglass gunwale boards were still the extra cost option. On the Outrage 18 they cost an addtional $390.
