Seat and seat back are attached to RPS legs by 1/4 20 stainless bolts into common steel T Nuts. Fishing Masonboro Inlet, NC alone at windward side of jetty, standing at wheel to control boat, and with 34" drum on my son was thrown back against the seat by the confused wave action that reflects back off the rocks. Hit the seat back and wound up at the transom with seat and back on the deck. Controlled boat and landed the fish but could ahve been a lot worse at speed in heavy weather.
At least in this situation the legendary Whaler was unsinkable but unsafe.
Ten stainless t nuts, pull off corners of seat cover for access and all is well. No removal of seat required for us. Ha, Ha. Not quite that fast but may be worth it for those who operate in what my father called "mean water".
